Volunteer Action are looking for a new Trustee
Who we are
Volunteer Action is a community minded a local charity that helps volunteers to improve the lives of local people in need. Specifically, it provides a Community Car, Befriending and Referral services to people living in the north of East Northamptonshire. We serve a large rural community in East Northamptonshire from Oundle to Easton on the Hill in the north and to Thrapston in the south.
What we do
We ensure elderly, infirm and disabled people in the community get access to some of the vital services they need to remain independent and prevent feelings of isolation. Our volunteer drivers drive those with no other reasonable means of transport to appointments to maintain their health and wellbeing. Our Befriending service provides a visiting service that offers companionship and a listening ear. Our Enhanced Referral service not only suggests organisations that might offer support but will help individuals apply for service or make appointments on their behalf.
The Trustees, acting together at a meeting, provide the high-level management, guidance and oversight of Volunteer Action. We are particularly interested in applications from individuals with some of the following experience:
Trustees are appointed for three years.
The position is unpaid; however, all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Our Trustees are expected to attend 6 meeting each year and participate in annual events to recognise the contribution our volunteers and supporters make towards the service.
If you are interested in becoming a Trustee for Volunteer Action please contact us and we will be happy to send you more information and an application pack. We welcome applicants from all sections of the community so that we may have a diverse range of skill and experience.
If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please call 01832 275433 and ask to speak to Carol Underwood.
