Birthday Card Appeal

Can you help? Volunteer Action would like to ask all local children to help us provide a hand-made birthday card for our members on their special day.  We support the elderly, unwell, disadvantaged and those with disabilities.  Some of our members do not have large families or lots of friends to help them celebrate, particularly during lockdown.  We have around 750 members so we need a lot of cards.

Important Instructions

Think flowers, birds, animals, balloons, party pictures or local scenery.  Think drawings, paintings or collages.  Or you probably have even better ideas!

We need cards for both men and women and mostly for older people.

Please make cards no bigger than will fit in a standard C5 envelope (162mm x 229mm. This will fit A4 paper folded in half) or provide your own envelope, if preferred.

Please feel free to add a signature such as “Made by Zack, aged 5” or “Daisy, aged 16, created this card” but please DO NOT put any other personal information, such as your address or surname on the card.  If you would like Volunteer Action to acknowledge your donation, please include your name and an email address on a separate slip of paper (we will not keep this information).

Cards can be delivered to:

  • Our offices at Fletton House, Glapthorn Road, Oundle PE8 4JA.  Just label it with the words “VA Card Appeal” and drop it through the letterbox.
  • The One Stop shop in Thrapston (33-37 Oundle Road) has kindly offered to collect cards for us, but please make sure you keep yourself safe and healthy and observe social distancing, if you’re dropping your card off there. There will be a pink post box in the shop.
  • You could also post the cards to us at Fletton House, if you would prefer.

We will take all sensible precautions to reduce the risk of spreading the virus when handling the cards.

Happy card-making!
